A Model for Effective Online Instructional Design   From the past decades, online learning has been increasing its popularity globally due to its convenient and cheapest way of learning.  There is a strong need for a pedagogically effective instructional design model for online education to ensure that it helps learners to achieve specific objectives and outcomes. Online instructional design process allows to identify knowledge gaps which should be presented to the learners in more effective, relevant  and appealing ways. Instructional systematic models provide guidance for the structure and organization of a course design which will be beneficial for both learners and designers. Based on the analysis and background, instructional designers select the most relevant tools and strategies that suit the learners' needs in order to create more interactive learning experiences.   There are some principles in the online instructional design model for designing and de...

ADDIE Model

Image
ADDIE model of instructional design   ADDIE model is one of the most common and effective models used in instructional design. This model is used to plan and create efficient, effective learning experiences in any environment as online or face to face medium. ADDIE is designed to be a flexible, continuous process of improvements and iterations. Instructional design is the systematic approach to the acronym ADDIE which are Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation of learning materials and activities. Each phase in the ADDIE model is related to and interacts with each other.   Analysis Phase: Analysis is the most important foundation phase which defines what is to be learned. In order to carry out the analysis, we have to analyses four things the learner needs, develop instructional analysis, create instructional goals and analyses learning objectives. This phase helps us to be clear about the goal of where we want our learner to be. First, ...

Stages of Dick and Carey's Model

Image
Stages of Dick and Carey’s Model of Instructional Design The Dick and Carey’s model is a performance-oriented model, stressing the identification of skills which students need to learn and the collection of data from students to revise instruction. It is based on the reductionist perspective which emphasizes on the breaking instruction down into smaller components to focus mainly on the building skills, knowledge, attitudes on students that need to be learned and provides the right learning conditions for the outcomes. The Dick and Carey models of instructional design is a step by step guide of how to deliver educational contents. This system approach consider on the components such as the instructor, learners, materials, instructional activities, delivery systems and learning performance environments which are analyzed and designed to work together towards supporting students learning.             Components of the Dick & Carey Mod...

Principal of Personalized Instruction -W.R.Watson and S.L.Watson

Personalized Learning and Instruction In modern society, personalized learning should be given more important for as actual substantive change in educational system. The information-age instructional model is customized rather than standardized, learning-centered rather than content-delivery oriented, student-directed (or jointly directed) rather than teacher-directed, and involves active learning rather than passive learning. Personalized learning refers to a process or model of education and not be limited to a specific tool, whether that tool is educational data analysis or project-based education, all of which could be tool implemented to support personalization. It focus on learning beyond the systematized approach instead it incorporate learner-control in order to develop self-regulated learning skills and not just knowledge. The United States’ Department of Education (2010) defined personalization in its 2010 National Education Technology Plan report: “Personalization r...
